Prototype requirements differ according to circuit complexity, operating environment and product application. The Repro Supplies quotation form allows you to specify important manufacturing details before submitting your design.

  • PCB layer options

    Single-layer, double-layer and multilayer PCB options are available through the quotation form, including boards with up to ten layers.

  • Surface finishes

    Available quotation options include ENIG immersion gold, lead-free HASL, lead HASL and immersion silver.

  • Copper thickness

    Customers can select finished copper weights including 1 oz, 2 oz and 3 oz, depending on their circuit requirements.

  • Routing and panel format

    PCB designs may require V-scoring, tab routing or a combination of the two, depending on the board layout and manufacturing requirements.

  • Solder-mask colours

What files do you need for a PCB prototype quotation?

Gerber manufacturing files are required for the PCB prototype quotation. Drill information must also be provided when it is not already embedded in the supplied files.

Before uploading, check that the files represent the final board revision and include the information needed to manufacture the PCB correctly. Repro Supplies does not perform design checks as part of this prototype service.

BOM and pick-and-place files are not required for bare PCB fabrication. Customers who also require component assembly can provide these files during the PCB assembly quotation process.

Prototype PCBs versus production PCBs

PCB prototypes are generally used for design validation, functional testing and early product development. They allow faults or manufacturing concerns to be identified before committing to a larger production order.

A prototype service may not be suitable when an exact minimum delivered quantity is critical. In those cases, a standard production quotation may be more appropriate.
